Google is known for its changing logos. Now that the Olympics started, Google has created a statement. The company made a logo, which uses the colours of homosexuality (the Rainbow).
I personally think this is an awesome idea. Google is, of course, a big and worldwide known company. They are known to have influence. A lot of people see this logo and a lot of people are confronted about the human rights issue in Sochi.
The part that makes it even stronger is the quote the added, which is shown on the photo below. I agree, and I guess most of humanity does, that playing a sport is indeed a human right.
You shouldn’t be disqualified because you’re homosexual. You can’t discriminate someone for his or her sexuality. When it comes to sports, you need to focus on someone’s talent. That is what counts.
I think that all the activists in Russia should have a right to demonstrate, because the have an entire world behind them. The Russian government shouldn’t threaten the activists. The activists and homosexuals are afraid of the Russian government. We live in the 21th century and homosexuality isn’t something you can control. In most countries it is accepted to be homosexual. And I think Russia should realise that.
So, yes, I think it was a great idea of such a big company to be able to make such a statement. I think this earns Google a lot of respect. I think this gives courage to the activists in Sochi.
